Many Things, One Mind.

Making sense of the shades between black and white.

NAVIGATION

My day job involves — to crudely put it — ethical hacking. I try to find vulnerabilities in our systems and figure out ways to patch them. I also write detection rules to identify suspicious or malicious activity happening in the environment.

Outside of work, I have a wide range of interests. I meddle with graphic design, video editing, sound design, and 2D & 3D animation. I enjoy making things, taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and occasionally wondering why I decided to start something in the first place.

Why I came up with this blog

The mind is complicated. So is life. Most things that matter to us - relationships, beliefs, spirituality, people, meaning - rarely fit comfortably into a simple right-or-wrong, black-or-white framework. There is usually something else going on in between: context, contradiction, history, emotion, perspective.

This blog is where I try to make sense of some of that.

I aim write about things I learn, things I experience, things I disagree with, and questions I can't quite answer. Sometimes that means exploring an idea seriously. Sometimes it means following a strange observation until it connects to something completely unrelated. And sometimes it simply means admitting that I don't know yet.

I don't have a particular subject I'm trying to stay within. I'm interested in the connections between things - the way an idea from technology can change how we think about people, how a book can alter the way we see an everyday experience, or how something seemingly ordinary can lead to a much bigger question.

These aren't meant to be definitive answers. They're records of my thinking at a particular point in time. Some of these thoughts will probably change. I hope they do.

If there's a common thread running through everything here, it is probably this: I want to understand things a little better before deciding what I think about them. And perhaps, in the process, understand myself a little better too.

Oh and also expect the occasional (or frequent) tech blog - since I’m such a geek.

Anyway. Cheers. Hope you have fun reading.
